Borgo Castello & Borgo Ulivo

Eco property in Abruzzo

Imagine a rustic retreat immersed in a lush olive grove, a stone’s throw from a traditional Italian medieval village. Imagine opening your window and looking out over the rolling hillsides, soaking in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside, and the nearby coast and its miles of sandy beaches and hidden coves. Imagine lingering over a glass of wine at the nearby cafe, enjoying the sights and sounds of the bustling village, or enjoying a lazy lunch under the bougainvillea tree on your patio.

Imagine no more!

We are proud to present a new series of eco-friendly properties, 'Borgo Castello' and 'Borgo Ulivo', launched as part of the Borghi Nascosti local-city council backed sustainable tourism project. These energy efficient, sustainable tourism homes are located on coastal hilltop villages just 16 km from the bustling seaside town of Pineto in the central Italian region of Abruzzo.

Prices start from just €30 000 for a one bed with garden and  €50 000 for a 2 bed with garden.

These energy-efficient homes are located in coastal hilltop villages close to the historical towns of Atri and Teramo. With prices starting at €30,000 for a one bedroomed home with garden and €50,000 for a two-bedroomed home with garden, these properties offer an authentic Italian lifestyle for anyone who dreams of living La Dolce Vita.

These eco-friendly timber-frame homes have very limited impact on the environment, and have been carefully chosen for exactly this reason. The project not only benefits the local economy through their sustainable tourism aspect, but they also ensure a minimum environmental impact because of the materials that are used and their location. All the projects are situated within easy public transport access in a bid to limit the impact of car pollution on the environment. The developer was awarded the Green Building Standard Silver Building Award in April 2008 for its Borghi Nascosti standards by Green Horizons Property, a body that rates environmentally-friendly developments.

Houses come kitted out with furniture as part of the purchase, permitting immediate use of the house. The villages boast stunning views of the surrounding countryside and of the nearby coast, and have everything you need on your doorstep, such as restaurants, cafes, food and vegetable shops, butchers, bakers, an emergency ward and an abundance of culture.

The lakes in the area offer a range of sports and activities for all ages for example hiring boats, canoeing, rafting and fishing.

The region of Abruzzo boasts one hundred and thirty kilometres of sparkling seaside, golden beaches, creeks and cliffs that run along the coast. The land adjoining the deep blue sea is dotted with woods, green hills, little villages and larger, bustling towns. The Borghi Nascosti seaside hilltop villages are all within very easy access of several seaside locations and their sandy beaches. In fact, the blue, shimmering expanse of the Adriatic is the background of the lush vineyard growing fields and olive groves that surround the village
homes.

The province of Teramo, where the Borghi Nascosti homes are located, has won the “Bandiera Blue” top
Italian prize for the most clean waters.

Local Activities

The stunning medieval town of Atri is just 27 km from the villages. It is situated on tope of the 3- pointed
hill with magnificent views over the Adriatic Sea. The majestic Gran Sasso chain of mountains is the backdrop
against which it is positioned. The town of Atri was famous and powerful in antiquity. Today it is one of the
most important historical, cultural and artistic centres in Abruzzo. The surrounding landscape is well-known
for the impressive canyon-like calanques and the partly-unexplored caves.

Teramo is a stunning historical town located near the Borghi Nascosti hilltop villages as well as being the capital city of the province of Teramo. It is a great spot to do a bit of sightseeing or shopping, or even take a leisurely walk to soak up the sights and the people. In the centre of the town is the beautiful Piazza.

For the kids, a trip to the fun Onda Blu Water Entertainment ground is an exciting day out. It is
about 40 minutes drive from the Borghi Nascosti villages (49 km)

Skiing is available at an important ski resort a 50 minutes drive (53 km) from the Borghi Nascosti villages
at the Passo Lanciano-Majelletta ski resort. The two main winter sports locations in the area are the Maella and the Gran Sasso mountains. The local ski resorts offer downhill and cross-country skiing, as well as snowboarding, ski-touring, snow-rafting, tobogganing and dog-sledding.The resort is also a great resource for the summer months as it offers great nature trails and mountainside restaurants where one can stop off to eat and indulge the healthy appetite that has been built up during the walks. Among the suggested trails are: the Calderone glacier trail, the Little Tibet trail and the spectacular Majella gorges walk. Other ski resorts in the area include the Prati di Tivo ski resort 49 km) and Campo Imperatore  (73 km)

Those with a passion for golf can participate in the sport at the Miglianico Golf Club (70 km). The Maglianico Golf club hosts a series of international golf tournaments during the year, and encourages those
in the area for their holidays to come and use their facilities.

There are two large National parks that span the surrounding areas that are ideal for day trips, picnics and
nature trails. There is also a series of sporting associations in the parks that offer activities ranging from horseback riding to lawn-sailing to rock climbing. The national parks are the Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo  and the Parco Nazionale della Majella. The ARPA bus service runs routes to the various park locations.
